Why We Love It: This plein air painting from Danish-French artist Camille Pissarro depicts the cliffs at Les Petit-Dalles, then a fashionable seaside resort outside Normandy in France. This particular seascape feels like it could be taken straight from an episode of Poldark.
From The Artist: Called the dean of the Impressionist painters, Camille Pissarro was a landscape artist best known for his outsized influence on Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painting. He was considered a father figure to several Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists including Cézanne, Seurat, Cassat, Gauguin and van Gogh.
