From the Vintage Collection
Tones: Cream, Muted Sky Blue, Pale Ochre, Yellow-Green
Why We Love It: Part of our vintage collection, this tonal and textural antique painting is timeless. A beautiful blend of beige and soft sage dips into the endless blue of the valley. This piece would look especially striking in our smaller sizes hung in a gallery wall or styled on a shelf.
From The Artist: Determined to become an artist, even against his parents wishes, Henri-Joseph Harpignies was finally allowed to attend Jean Archard's atelier in Paris at the age of 27. It was this training where he gained a sound constructive draughtsmanship, a marked feature of his landscape work. Additionally, he did decorative work for the Paris Opera and went on to teach many students who later became accomplished artists.
