About The Artist: Hercules Seghers was an eccentric artist from the Dutch Golden Age best known for his depictions of imaginary mountainous landscapes. An innovator in printmaking, he was notable for using an aquatint technique called life-ground etching. Among his contemporary admirers was Rembrandt, who owned several of his works.
