Why We Love It: This graphite sketch by David Cameron Young was taken from the Scottish countryside. Subtle and moody, this meandering river feels calming and serene.
From The Artist: David Young Cameron was one of Scotland's most prolific and influential artists. In addition to his painting, drawings and watercolors, Cameron received widespread attention for his work as an etcher and printmaker. He was noted for his ability to capture his subjects using remarkably few lines. As a landscape painter, Cameron shied away from spectacular images of imposing natural forms and extreme weather, but instead had a preference and talent for capturing the stillness and ambiance of a place. To this day, his works remain some of the most poetic images ever produced of the Scottish Highlands.
