From the Vintage Collection
Tones: Cool Gray, Sand, Muted Rose, Soft Jade, Sky Blue
Why We Love It: Captivating and ethereal, Degas produced this view of a mountainous landscape. Partially obscured by mist, this piece verges on abstraction.
About The Artist: This painting is from a series of landscape monotypes produced by Edgar Degas using colored oil paints overlaid with scumbled pastels. Degas described these as "imaginary landscapes," and they are thought to reflect his experience while traveling through Burgundy in a horse-drawn carriage. It is now a part of the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. See here for more information on Juniper's Vintage collection.
